Reaction: I think the community is very nice and well organized, but who would want their life- their personal life to be controlled the way they are in the story? Don't get me wrong, I do think it is a nice community, but like I said: the way they live is not fair.
Chapter 2
Quote: "But to be honest, Jonas," his father said, "for me there was not the element of suspense that there is with your Ceremony. Because I was already fairly certain of what my Assignment was to be."
Reaction: I think that Jonas and his entire community shouldn't have to go through the ceremonies at all. They should be a regular community, like the ones we have. Sure we have crime, but who doesn't? If they were careful, they could avoid crime. My mom used to take me to school every day to keep me alive and out of trouble, but now she trusts me enough to let me walk to school.
Chapter 3
Quote: " The apple had changed. Just for an instant. It had changed in mid-air, he remembered. Then it was in his hand, and he looked at it carefully, but it was the same apple. Unchanged. The same size and shape: a perfect sphere. The same nondescript shade." (p. 2
Reaction: Wow. That seems so impossible, but it happened anyway. Maybe Jonas has magic powers!!!
Chapter 4
Quote: " What happens when they make the actual release? Where exactly did Roberto go?
Reaction: That is such a good question. It's just too bad I already know the answer. Where could they go? The Old are most likely too frail to go on and live their life in another community.
Chapter 5
Quote: " You're ready for the pills, that's all. That's the treatment for stirrings."
Reaction: Hahaha. Stirrings. What an unusual name. I just don't get why they would want to treat something that is so natural. Their community is pretty... odd
